# Join the guild Joining has three steps: sign in, link Battle.net, then wait for a Quest Master to confirm you in game. Each step opens more of the guild's Discord. ## Sign in with Discord 1. Open the [SideQuest Discord](https://discord.gg/nwncP7H9Hh) and accept the invite. 2. Go to [sidequest-guild.com](https://sidequest-guild.com). 3. Select **Sign in with Discord**. 4. Approve the sign-in on Discord's page. :::{note} Signing in gives you the **Signed the Ledger** role and opens more of the server. The site sends you a welcome DM, and a pinned **Start here** button in `#guest-chat` shows it again if you miss it. ::: ## Link Battle.net 1. Go to your [account page](https://sidequest-guild.com/account/). 2. Select **Link Battle.net**. 3. Sign in to Battle.net and approve the link. Linking gives you the **Battle-Tagged** role. Officers use your BattleTag to match you to your characters in game. ## Wait to be confirmed Once you're in the guild in game, a Quest Master checks the roster and confirms you. Confirming gives you the **New Arrival** role, which opens the rest of the guild's Discord channels. Until then you can see only the sign-in channel. :::{dropdown} What do the roles mean? Discord roles track where you are in joining, in this order: - **At the Gate**: you're in the server but haven't signed in yet. - **Signed the Ledger**: you signed in with Discord. - **Battle-Tagged**: you linked Battle.net. - **New Arrival**: a Quest Master confirmed you're in the guild in game. The guild channels open. These roles stay in sync with the site. A Quest Master can remove **New Arrival** if you leave the in-game guild. ::: :::{dropdown} What are the guild ranks? Above member, the guild has two officer ranks: - **Quest Guide**: an officer. Runs events, attendance and recruiting. - **Quest Master**: the guild master (GM). Everything a Quest Guide can do, plus the roster, the activity log and moderation. See the [guild rules](https://sidequest-guild.com/rules/) and the officers' [code of conduct](../officers/conduct.md) for how officers use these ranks. :::
